Standing: Eliot Lupton, Rick Parham, Michael
Bartlett, Nancy Cook
Seated: John O'Neill, John Smythers
Team Broward was
formed in Davie, Florida, in the spring of 2009 by John
Smythers, John O’Neill, Nancy Cook, and Michael Bartlett.
Their goal is the creation of a program that will provide
athletes a consistent experience as they grow and a stable,
organized, and proactive environment that provides a safe
and rewarding experience over multiple years. Team Broward
is a competitive program and exists to win tournaments- but
our mission statement
“To develop strength and
confidence in all aspects of life through teamwork,
commitment, dedication, and challenge. Team Broward
recognizes that young women benefit personally and
academically from organized and competitive athletic
endeavors, and that the playing fields provide opportunities
for successful development of the character and qualities
that students need to continue to the next level, in school
and in life”
remains our core belief and operating
principle. Players with a work ethic, love of the game, and
good sportsmanship and teamwork skills will always have a
place in Team Broward. If you are coming to us as an
experienced player with developed skills part of your
responsibility is, through leadership and example, to help
the coaches create an environment where your teammates’
skills can also improve. If you are coming to us with less
developed skills then Team Broward relies on your work ethic
to insure that our coaches and your teammates help you
develop.
Team Broward is
a Florida not-for-profit corporation. The officers of the
corporation are John Smythers, President; Michael Bartlett,
Vice-President; and John O'Neill, Treasurer.
The Team Broward
Board consists of the corporate officers; Nancy Cook; and
the Head Coaches of the various teams. The Board may
also add members or committees at their discretion for
specific areas of responsibility, such as fundraising,
travel arrangements, uniform management, promotion, or other
activities as they come up.
Board members
are volunteers, and receive no compensation or
consideration. Their services are advisory in general, with
certain members or committees having specific
responsibilities as necessary. An example would be
tournament organization. Board members’ service can be
initiated or terminated at the discretion of the Board or
the Officers of the Corporation.
Team
Broward is a volunteer organization and would welcome your
contribution. If you are interested in serving on the Board,
helping out with a committee, taking an area of
responsibility, or working with the Officers in any capacity
we would love to hear from you. We also extend the
opportunity of applying for service on the Board to athletes
in the program- Team Broward is for the players, and if an
athlete demonstrates the desire, initiative, and maturity
that a responsible position requires that athlete would
receive the full consideration of the Board.
